Our Story
A school named for a king who loved learning.
In the ninth century, England lay in darkness. Monasteries had been burned, manuscripts lost, and the light of learning all but extinguished. One king refused to let it die.
Alfred the Great — warrior, statesman, and translator — personally rendered Augustine, Boethius, and Gregory the Great into the language of his people. He believed that "wisdom is the highest virtue" and that no Christian should grow up without it.
King Alfred Academy exists in the same spirit. We believe that families, like Alfred, can rebuild what has been lost — and that today's tools, used wisely, can serve the timeless ends of truth, beauty, and goodness.

Our Convictions
Wisdom is the goal.
Not test scores. Not credentials. Wisdom — the right ordering of the soul to truth, beauty, and God.
Parents are primary.
We exist to serve families, never to replace them. The home is the first and best school.
Technology must serve.
AI is a remarkable tool. Used with discernment, it can extend a teacher's care; used carelessly, it can starve the soul.
Our Mission
To form young men and women in the wisdom of the Christian classical tradition, equipping them with the knowledge, virtue, and tools to live lives of consequence in service of God and neighbor.
