II · Who it is for
For believing Christian families who want their children formed in faith, wisdom, and the Western tradition.
And who want to do it in genuine community with families who share those convictions.
Our Namesake
In the ninth century, England lay in darkness. Monasteries had been burned, manuscripts lost, and the light of learning all but extinguished. One king refused to let it die.
Alfred the Great — warrior, statesman, and translator — personally rendered Augustine, Boethius, and Gregory the Great into the language of his people. He believed wisdom was the highest virtue, and that no Christian should grow up without it.
King Alfred Academy exists in the same spirit. We believe families, like Alfred, can rebuild what has been lost — and that today's tools, used wisely, can serve the timeless ends of truth, beauty, and goodness.

II · Who it is for
Parents lead. The Academy supports.
We are more intentional than a co-op and more flexible than a traditional school. Families choose their own curriculum, or none at all. Accountability comes through the CLT assessment and the Symposium — not through mandating what or how families teach.
The Academy provides scope and sequence, curriculum suggestions from trusted partners, and the Family Steward. Parents remain in charge of their children’s formation.
III · The Faith We Hold
A covenant, not a creed-test.
All families affirm:
- The Five Solas of the Reformation
- The Apostles' Creed
- The authority of Scripture
- Christian marriage as the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman
- God's creation of humankind as male and female
We welcome Anglican, Reformed, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Baptist, and non-denominational families. Any family who affirms this covenant and is active in a local church is at home here. We are a school, not a congregation.
Our Convictions
Wisdom is the goal.
Not test scores. Not credentials. The right ordering of the soul to truth, beauty, and God.
Parents are primary.
We exist to serve families, never to replace them. The home is the first and best school.
The Church is the center.
We are a school, not a congregation. Every family is rooted in a local church.
Technology must serve.
AI is a remarkable tool. Used with discernment, it extends a parent's reach without crowding it.
Our Mission
To form young men and women in the wisdom of the Christian classical tradition — equipping them with the knowledge, virtue, and tools to live lives of consequence in service of God and neighbor.
